ABOUT ME

I am Sooraj Narayan, born in Chennai in the summer of '95. I guess my parents (in picture) had enough trouble growing up with their siblings (with more than one in each case!) that they decided I was better off being their only child. My early years were spent in the cities of Delhi and Hyderabad before moving to Chennai in 2003. In the next decade and a half, both me and Chennai grew and so did my love for the city. I lived in Boston for 5 years having moved there for pursuing my PhD after completing both my schooling and my bachelors in Chennai. In 2022, I moved to upstate NY for my first real job. My wife and I got hitched in 2023 (see picture from our wedding) and recently had our first kid, a baby girl!

I am a sports enthusiast and will watch any sport (almost). A big Arsenal fan but I promise to not rant here about that. Played tennis when I was young; I got coached with an arduous daily regimen for close to 5 years and played at the State and National levels. Also represented my University team as an undergrad.

I have a love-hate relationship with cooking but when I am in the love phase, I do like to try and experiment (within my vegetarian palette). My cooking expedition began when I backpacked across Western Europe, oops, I meant interned in Germany during the summer of 2016. Enjoyed traveling around Europe that summer and have gone back a couple of times since, and most recently checked the Aurora Borealis off my bucket list with a voyage to Iceland.
